falltime crunch

only two weeks until the trip North. not enough time! business is always slower just about now, but think i have secured the necessary jobs to take me through into Dec and through our Week of Skinny Puppy celebration. been a bit nerve racking though. Just so many expenses this time of year, haven’t added to the savings account in a week and a half. haven’t had much time to do anything but work, except got some good stuff done this weekend instead of just lazing around trying to recover from the week before.

Many thanks, Beebs, for your idea to clean. I can get pretty good at ignoring the clutter, but it does feel so good to have bare spaces. And thanks for putting up some of your collection stuff (CDs and all that) because it’s just so much more spacious feeling. Not enough thanks in the world for your tackling the gross top priorities that you did, though I like to think my taking out the piss scum somehow balanced your efforts. Go, Squeebs, in your fez and blue manties. That’s how everyone should clean.

The week of fried rice is going superbly. The first time I ever made it (some 16 years ago) was the best. It turned out perfect, and I’ve been trying to achieve that again ever since. –not that I’ve tried more than 4 or 5 times. I got impatient and didn’t wait until the rice was thoroughly cold, so it got just abit mushy this last time. note to self: do *not* buy the tiny salad shrimp again. I thought this might happen, but decided to try them out. Sure enough, about 2/3 of those fuckers are full of solid, thick shit tracts. Yep. Guess I had hope that they’d been put through some tiny deveiner deal or something. So I spent who knows how long trying to devein these tiny shrimp, and making a little pile of the shittiest ones for Ogree -who, it turns out, does not like shrimp (or maybe she’s picky like me). She pulled every one out onto the floor so she could get to the kibble (Ch taught me the correct pronunciation: kee-blay). i like the idea of the shrimp being spread throughout the rice -good, idea, squabeeb- but i’d rather have shitless shrimp (and not have to spend more than 20 minutes makin em that way), even if it means they’re fewer and farther between. we can get bigger ones and cut them up into halves/thirds or something.

it will be crazy fun to see all Dad’s family in addition to G-ma’s 90th celebrations. I can’t wait. And there’s been progress on the project of organizing and publishing Grandma Bruce’s poetry. I had no idea there were so many versions and that kind of organization and decision making to do. I can see why Aunt T got a bit discouraged by it. Looks like I’ve inherited at least part of the project. I have a clear solution vision to keep me going: eeing it all digitized and in a database for easy sorting/presentation.

the talking talk was very timely. I’m glad that happened. it’s very interesting how different and suddenly clearly necessary once it was in motion, it was to sit and talk without music or internet or anything. I mean we spend so much time together and talk about everything, that it was hard for me to envision how having a list and maintaining said list was going to make any difference in how I felt about ‘having to plan everything’ –but on top of how it addresses those kinds of issues, it really cleared up / focuses a lot of things. I think we both noticed it like night/day. so here’s to this newest development. I had a very nice weekend with you. Love

gotta work now…adding meta data to Serge’s Chinese podcast feeds. yay, maybe I’ll actually learn some like I think would be fun every time I work on his site.
