secret chiefs and iodine

the semi-Gerson diet is going well. I think these first few days we’ve been withdrawing from salt –aesthetically, and more into physically..as things progress. It sounds insane, but in the Gerson book they talk about people passing 5gm of salt a day in the first several days on the Gerson plan. Anyway, so iodine supplementation is part of this thing. I couldn’t get the Lugol’s solution, but Whole Foods had this Liqui-Kelp stuff. So I took one dose according to the bottle, once daily the first couple days. The next day I took it twice. Not that noticeable effects are necessary, but after reading the book and many online comments on the benefits of iodine supplementation such as ‘you definitely feel it’… I got to thinking , “how do I know this kelp stuff isn’t too dilute?’ . So I went looking online. The Liqui-Kelp says 150mcg per dose, so I just had to figure out what the Gerson ppl had to say about actual amounts, or how concentrated the Lugol’s stuff they often refer to is. Not wanting to risk my bodily health to only 2 or 3 internet anecdotes, I searched long and hard and came up with 4 or 5 (:P) examples of actual dosages, as well as a few examples citing much larger doses than I was thinking about taking. I reasoned they were suggesting 4 times the RDA, which would be 40 drops of this Liqui-Kelp. Keeping in mind it’s better to slowing increase, I decided to take 10 –had been taking 8/day. This was 10 drops on top of 4 from several hours earlier =14 = 525mcg

Actually I *was* going to take 20 drops, but thought better of it as I dripped it onto my tongue and stopped at 10. Read a bit more curled up with my ipod then forced myself to return to the work station. I suppose about 30 minutes had gone by… I was typing an email to a client when my left forearm started sort of tingly/itching, almost a burning. Then I felt it in my right as well. A moment later I felt HOT. Overall, it was very much like being badly sunburned- my entire body felt sort of hot and itching, dry and irritated. Visually, it was getting splotchy on my legs, in the same areas where it might turn purplish if I got too cold were turning splotchy red. Well, as soon as I felt the weird ITCH sweep over my arms I knew it was the iodine. The few moments as I rode out the minor iodine ingestion crest were rather interesting, as I tried to determine if it was leveling off or if this odd feeling of being too hot despite there being no ambient hotness and no shivers (fever being the only other time this body thing happens in my experience) might just increase to a point of badness. Pretty sure the racing heart was mostly excitement while I waited to see how it would go, but probably some was the reaction itself. Seems like the main deal lasted 30 minutes or so. I finished my email and went for a 1.75 hour walk. Not sure it wasn’t just the adrenaline afterglow, but I did have a different sort of clarity or sharpness in awareness, though also an uncommon slight shortness of breath for the first 2-3 miles. could be the shitty weed, though if you could only see what i’ve got right here you’d help me decide to forsake the other altogether, damn the cost!

pretty exciting but not as dramatic as the b6 overdose – patches of lumpy rash -guess those were hives– allll over my body all of a sudden, then 3/4 hours later, no sign of any issue, skin completely perfect/back to normal. too much iodine is not pleasant, but i can see how in small regular doses it could be beneficial. So, if taking only 4 times the RDA had such obvious effects, I think that means I’m not likely to be iodine deficient. maybe drinking distilled water has had more than aesthetic effects –doesn’t taste like shit. maybe eating so much fish. so, the thyroid turns iodine into [useful thyroid hormone stuff]. so the rushing effects were just until/while my body was turning the iodine into the thyroid chemicals.

took my own advice from the other day and caught up on some disinfo podcasts a few days ago. Then today I actually took their advice I’d heard over the many podcasts, to listen to their original show Out There. Wow, they’re right that someone listening to the one would like the other. There’ve been some really fascinating interviews and discussion on the Disinfo shows, but these outthere shows are jam packed -or at least the three I happened to hear tonight. For whatveer reason, the first 9 episodes were unavailable thru the itunes app/store, so I started with #10 – Get your hands off my orgone –all about Wilhelm Reich. Some info I did not know –this picture of his dying in jail as evidence of the extreme persecution is not as simple as that apparently, in that if what the show goes into is accurate, he only went to jail for failing to appear in court to answer to injunction related to the devices he was selling. Joe and Raymonds’ takes being generally that he probably could have just appeared with a decent lawyer and gotten off –or talked about how he’d worked with Einstein and Freud, and perhaps he would have been permitted to continue selling his devices. Yet, the main issue is, as focused on in the show, WHY were Reich’s research papers burned? If the accusations were that Reich was handing off these useless or possibly harmful devices to people; if they were claiming flaws in the science, why would they eradicate all traces of research that might be fruitful? The destroying of his papers was a very passionate, personal, vindictive type of move.

One note about covert harassment popping up in this synchronous way- re introduction to Wilhelm Reich, and unexpectedly in the Beautiful Truth movie introducing me to the Gerson person/therapy/information, and learning about Gerson’s experiences with covert harassment. Anyway, one thing that occurs to me is that to most people who had not experienced covert harassment, or beat down by the invisible prison, the tones of some of the text or speech could easily be taken as paranoia, or strong sales pitch (like why do they keep asserting that what they say is true, when I’m not disputing it, I’m open to hearing it ; defensive) some parts come off as being very defensive. It’s just this whole inexpressible view of how such experiences change people — there are the seemingly , and sometimes objectively, negative effects like being more difficult for others to understand/follow or that their fringe ideas challenge the status quo, but there are the realizations as one of these greater scape goats, shaman types sometimes come to: that the sacrifice is more than worth the progress to a greater set of people, along a greater span of time; a greater scope. the wellfare of the whole is within each individual –the interviewee of the third episode just said, but I jump ahead.

Anyway, the first one -episode 10- brought some new angles to the Reich story. Joe and Ray also talked about interesting correlations between Reich’s upbringing time window within the larger historyscape, and how his theories of emotional armoring being a precursor to fascism, have become part of a synthesized new age physics psychology in these times (or then times 1/2006) of peaking fascism. Which reminds me of something very simple that occurred to me the other day. So Reich had this theory that sexual repression had a lot to do with building this unnatural emotional armoring. In listening to the radio show I see the truth in the emotional armoring stuff, but by sexual repression I would prefer to think of sexual as being creative/playful/exploring and repression coming in the myriad forms it does, repressing expression, and creative free thought in general, while encouraging fear and unity/conformity. This is what I’ve seen in talking with all kinds of people, including myself -the power of habit/subsistence and fear. I had not previously thought of Reich as simply focusing on one particular (sexual) possible route to connection with self, with his particular therapy practices and theories regarding sexual repression and liberation. anyway, seemingly disparate just hanging in the daily flux, I was thinking about the homeostasis , to put it blandly, effects of sex and connecting with another person in an energetic way. It really does realign things on more than a couple layers -physically, emotionally, psychologically, mentally, spiritually. As I sat there and just felt the existence of these connections and validations in my life in these close relationships, besides feeling grateful, I saw all the challenges and obstacles in modern society and status quo set up to discourage this kind of centering and recharging. I mean whether it’s sex or good nutritious food, or healthy ways of exploring and establishing a true sense of self; forming one’s own opinions and standards –these are all targets. These are all things/ways to decrease higher thought and emotions, whether through neg and pos reinforcement, social engineering, malnutrition… you get the idea.

which brings me to the next episode about the Golden Dawn. First off, I admittedly have always had this sort of post-golden-dawn disregard for Western mysticism or whatever, having dived into the brilliantly cutting simple materials of chaos magicians of a bit later on, and hadn’t had much room for all the depth of ritual and stuff. so this episode made it a lot more clear what all was made possible by the Golden Dawn. Particularly, I did not know that Crowley had taken a secrecy oath, and then decided, as did another member, to disclose everything he knew, as the best way to preserve viable information despite the infighting of various GD groups that threatened to shadow the information that humankind needed to develop. So the story goes that these groups believed there were these secret chiefs, these beings that orchestrate the sweeps of change and spiritual evolution, etc. I had the same thought the hosts did -like a good guys Illuminati. But remember what the Cassiopeans say about how Good guys don’t play chess.lol anyway, interesting tidbits to research further.

then wham, another greatly interesting episode on entheogens. something I’ve read a lot about but have not heard anyone talk or discuss the topic really. Very interesting episode

notes:
Entheogen was a term coined around 1979-1980. entheos : god within. entheogen : substance to encourage/stimulate entheos.
